The year of 2018 has been quite an exciting year for gamers all around the world. We’ve finally got some long-awaited games, reboots and updates and there are many more yet to come. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition – The Street Fighter franchise was expanded in January by a new release with a great arcade story mode. Now, gamers can choose among 60 characters with new fighting mechanics and can enjoy 200 possible campaign endings. The game has found fandom among new players and evoked nostalgia among its long-time loyal fans as well.
Dragon Ball FighterZ – The same month, anime fans got their long hoped-for game adaptation of Dragon Ball. The game follows new adventures of heroes and villains from Dragon Ball Z series, the Cell and Buu sagas, and Dragon Ball Super series. With great fighting mechanics, this game has achieved a competitive status like no other Dragon Ball game before. The game can be played in single-player mode as well as online.
Hunt: Showdown – For those gamers who prefer shooting to fighting games, February brought a real treat in the form of a new first-person shooter horror game, Hunt: Showdown. In this game, the player takes the role of a mercenary who hunts for a bounty teamed up with a friend. The bounty is a monster that lives in a cursed land filled with zombies, killer bees and other mutants. As if this were not enough, there are three rival teams trying to steal your bounty and kill you.
Into the Breach – Indie game developers had a great start this year as well. One of the most anticipated indie games, Into the Breach, came out in February, as a teaser for the movie Pacific Rim Uprising. This turn-based strategy game has lived up to the expectations of its development team in terms of both gameplay and design. The player leads a 3-man squad on a mission to save the world from gigantic insect-like creatures named Vek, equipped with an arsenal of tanks, aircraft, and fantasy weapons.
Attack on Titan 2 – Based on the first two seasons of the Attack on Titan anime, the namesake game is a hack and slash game packed with action and excitement. The game allows players to create original characters and interact with familiar characters from the anime, while chopping up giant monsters and finding ways to discover and hit the giant’s weak spot.
